The buyer packet

The forms you actually review and sign.

This is not a generic download bundle. ACar builds a vehicle-specific packet and keeps conditional forms out until the title, mileage, and warranty facts support them.

Account-level

E-Sign Consent

Permission to receive and sign the transaction records electronically. Returning buyers may already have this on file.

Always

Retail Purchase Agreement

The vehicle-specific sale contract showing the buyer, vehicle, purchase price, tax, title, registration, and transaction terms.

Dealer sale

Vehicle Bill of Sale

The dealer sale record from ACar NJ LLC to the buyer, with the VIN, vehicle facts, mileage, price, and signatures.

Every used vehicle

FTC Buyers Guide

The vehicle-specific federal disclosure showing whether the car is sold with warranty coverage or under an allowed as-is status.

Vehicle-specific

Warranty-status disclosure

The written warranty or legally available as-is/waiver disclosure that matches this vehicle’s age, mileage, price, and review.

Seller unlocks

Odometer Disclosure

The federal mileage statement. Buyer signing stays locked until the seller confirms the final mileage at transfer.

Why the packet can change: the warranty disclosure, odometer acknowledgment, and any exception authorization depend on the real vehicle and title file. The purchase record shows what is ready, waiting, or not applicable.

Who handles what

Three sides of one clean transfer.

The buyer packet is only one part. The vehicle cannot move forward without the seller’s original ownership records and ACar’s completed dealer/MVC file.

Buyer

You review and sign

  • Legal buyer and registrant details
  • Retail agreement and bill of sale
  • Buyers Guide and warranty status
  • Final odometer acknowledgment
  • Extra authorization only when the file needs it

Seller

The owner supplies

  • Assigned original certificate of title
  • Final mileage disclosure
  • Lien payoff details and authorization, if financed
  • Lien release or other title cures, when required
  • Tracked original-title package

ACar

We prepare and coordinate

  • Official NJ MVC registration/title packet
  • Tax, title, registration, and lien data
  • Document and title-package review
  • Temporary-registration steps when available
  • Permanent registration and plate tracking

Official MVC forms are not extra checkout worksheets.

ACar uses the transaction data to prepare the accepted NJ MVC title and registration forms for the dealer filing. If the processor, MVC, or an unusual registrant situation needs a separate authorization, it appears as an exception task—not as default busywork for every buyer.

Seller scanning a New Jersey certificate of title with ACar

Before MVC filing

The original title has to survive a real review.

A scan helps ACar start the review, but the seller’s assigned original title—and any required lien release or correction—still has to reach and clear the transaction file.

New Jersey title, registration, bill of sale, and insurance records prepared for MVC filing

Dealer filing

ACar assembles the accepted MVC packet.

The approved title chain, buyer identity, insurance, purchase price, lien facts, tax, fees, and official forms come together only after the underlying records agree.

From signing to plates

Paperwork keeps moving after checkout.

A completed signature packet does not by itself clear pickup. The payment, title, insurance, identity, and registration gates still have to line up.

1

Checkout documents

Sign the vehicle-specific records that are ready.

2

Title and funds review

ACar clears the original ownership package, liens, identities, and payment.

3

Insurance and temporary registration

Provide proof of coverage; temporary registration is coordinated where legally available and approved.

4

MVC processing and permanent plates

ACar tracks the dealer filing and mails the completed registration package after MVC processing.

Temporary registration

Used only when the transaction qualifies and every release gate is approved.

Permanent New Jersey license plates arriving after MVC processing

Permanent plates

Mailed with the registration package after MVC completes the filing.

Current NJ costs

Fees come from the filing—not mystery paperwork charges.

The purchase agreement itemizes the transaction. Registration varies by vehicle and registration facts, while title fees change when liens are recorded.

Files that need more time

What can delay the paperwork?

These do not automatically end a transaction. They do mean ACar needs a clear, documented solution before the title or vehicle can move.

An active lien

ACar needs the lender payoff quote, payoff authorization, and a path to a clear title before the vehicle can be released.

A missing or defective title

Names, signatures, erasures, assignments, or ownership details that do not match can require a correction or replacement.

An out-of-state title

The issuing state’s title rules still matter. Non-title states, auctions, and unusual ownership chains can require more proof.

A mileage mismatch

The seller’s final disclosure must match the title chain and buyer acknowledgment; listing mileage is only a preview.

A different registrant

Registering to another person or an entity can add identity, address, authority, or power-of-attorney requirements.

Insurance not ready

NJ proof of insurance is required for registration and must be approved before applicable temporary-registration steps.

Straight answers

NJ paperwork questions buyers actually ask.

Do I have to visit an NJ MVC agency?

Usually not for a supported ACar dealer transaction. ACar coordinates the title and registration filing, but an unusual title, identity, registrant, lien, or MVC request can still require buyer action.

Is a bill of sale enough to own and register the car?

No. The bill of sale records the transaction, but the assigned title, buyer identity, insurance, registration application, tax and fee information, and any lien documents are also part of the transfer file.

Why can’t I sign the odometer form immediately?

The buyer must acknowledge the seller’s final mileage at transfer. ACar keeps that document pending until the seller confirms the final odometer reading.

Will every buyer see the same documents?

No. The exact packet changes with the vehicle’s warranty status, title state, lien status, registrant, and other facts. ACar shows only the documents required for that file.

When do I provide insurance?

Insurance is completed after checkout, when the purchased vehicle can be added to the policy. It must be verified before the registration and vehicle-release gates that require it.

What happens to my signed copies?

Completed transaction documents remain attached to the purchase record so you can return to the signed versions and follow any remaining paperwork tasks.
