1. Our Commitment
ACar Technologies, Inc. is committed to making buying and selling a vehicle on ACar usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We treat accessibility as part of building the product, not as a one-time review, and we are working to remove barriers wherever we find them.
2. Conformance Status
We measure ACar against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA — the standard most widely referenced for public-facing websites in the United States.
ACar is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that most of the site meets the standard, but some content does not yet fully conform. We are choosing to describe our status honestly rather than claim complete conformance, and the specific areas still outstanding are listed below.
3. What We Have Done
- Every form field across the site — sign-in and registration, the sell-your-car flow, checkout, appointment booking, insurance and payout setup — has a programmatic name, so screen readers announce what each field is for.
- Buttons that show only an icon (close, next, previous, save, share, delete, star ratings and similar) now carry text alternatives instead of being announced as an unlabelled button.
- Elements that respond to a mouse click but are not native buttons can now be reached with the Tab key and activated with Enter or Space, and are announced with the correct role.
- A “Skip to main content” link is the first item in the tab order on every page, and page content sits inside a
<main>landmark so assistive technology can jump straight to it. - Controls that changed appearance on mouse hover now show the same change on keyboard focus.
- Images carry text alternatives, and the site declares its language.
- Animation is reduced automatically when a visitor asks for that in their operating system.
- Automated WCAG 2.1 A/AA testing with axe-core runs against the built site so that new accessibility defects are caught before release.
4. Known Limitations
We are aware of the following and are actively working on them. This list is not a disclaimer — it is our current remediation queue.
- Colour contrast. Some text in our brand blue, and a small amount of secondary grey text, falls below the 4.5:1 contrast ratio AA requires for normal-size text. We are revising these colours.
- Video captions. Vehicle walkaround and dashboard videos recorded by sellers are published without captions. Where these recordings carry spoken information, that information is not currently available to people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Dialogs. Some pop-up dialogs do not yet confine keyboard focus to the dialog while it is open, or restore focus to the control that opened it when it closes.
- Grouped choices. Some sets of related options are not yet announced as a single labelled group, so the question introducing them may not be read out with the choices.
- Screen reader testing. Our automated testing cannot detect every barrier. We have not yet completed a full manual audit with VoiceOver, NVDA and JAWS, and we have not yet commissioned an independent third-party audit.
- Third-party content. Some flows embed services we do not control, including payment and identity verification. We do not control their accessibility, but we will help you complete any step affected by them.
5. Assessment Methods
This statement is based on automated testing of the built site with axe-core against the WCAG 2.1 A and AA rule sets, static analysis of our source code for accessibility defects, and manual keyboard testing. It has not been reviewed by an independent third party. We last reviewed the site on 2026-08-22.
6. Need Help, or Found a Barrier?
If any part of ACar is difficult or impossible for you to use, please tell us — we want to fix it, and we will help you complete what you were trying to do in the meantime. You do not need to explain your disability to get help.
Email [email protected] with the word “Accessibility” in the subject line, or write to ACar Technologies, Inc., 330 E. Commerce St., Ste #186, Bridgeton, NJ 08302. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you use if you are comfortable sharing it.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 3 business days and to give you a plan and a timeframe for a fix within 10 business days. If we cannot resolve something quickly, we will offer an alternative way to complete the transaction, including completing it with a member of our team directly.
7. Alternative Ways to Transact
Every step of buying or selling a vehicle through ACar can be completed with help from our team if the website is not workable for you. Contact us at [email protected] and we will arrange it. This alternative is offered at no additional cost.
