How to sell your car in New Jersey with ACar
Selling a car yourself usually means pricing it, photographing it, posting it, answering messages, screening strangers, scheduling test drives, collecting payment and handling the title. ACar keeps the private-sale price potential and takes most of that work off your plate.
The ACar selling process, step by step
Most sellers finish the listing checklist in about 10 to 20 minutes, and ACar review usually takes under 24 hours. Nothing goes live until you approve the exact price.
- Vehicle details: start with a VIN, license plate, or year, make and model, then confirm mileage, features, condition, accident history and title status to get an estimated market range.
- Guided vehicle scan: on your phone, capture 7 exterior photos, up to 11 interior and detail photos, two walkaround videos and VIN photos, and document any imperfections.
- Payoff and title: tell ACar whether the car is owned outright or financed, and photograph the title or add your lender and approximate payoff.
- Maintenance history: add oil changes, brakes, tires, major repairs and anything due soon. Receipts help but are optional.
- Identity verification: scan a government-issued ID and take a quick selfie match.
- Test-drive preferences: choose your available days, time windows and where you prefer to meet.
- Review and approve: preview the listing, sign the Seller Listing Agreement and approve the price before it goes live.
How ACar prices your car
ACar analyzes local and national market data for your specific vehicle, including year, make, model, trim, mileage, condition and demand, and runs it through its pricing models. The first number you see is an estimate. Your photos and title information are reviewed before an exact listing price is confirmed.
You review and approve the amount you want to receive before the car is marketed. If the confirmed price does not work for you, the car does not have to go live.
What it costs to sell
Nothing. Sellers do not pay a listing fee or a seller fee. ACar’s compensation is built into the vehicle price the buyer sees, so there is no bill at the end and nothing is deducted as a commission.
While your car is listed
You keep the car and keep driving it. ACar markets the listing through ACar, Facebook Marketplace and other supported advertising channels, answers routine buyer questions, and filters spam, noise and lowball messages before they reach you. Your personal phone number is never published.
Before a test drive, buyers complete readiness steps such as identity verification and insurance, and appointments fit the availability and meeting location you set.
Closing the sale and getting paid
When a buyer commits, you sign the closing documents online and send ACar your original title. ACar handles the title transfer and New Jersey MVC paperwork. You never exchange bank details with the buyer.
You can connect your payout account at any time, even while the car is still listed. Your payout is sent by ACH once the buyer’s funds clear and the closing checks are complete. ACH transfers typically take 3 to 5 business days.
