Biometric Privacy Notice

Version 2026-08-17 · Effective August 17, 2026

ACar's role: ACar Technologies, Inc. operates the platform. Certain dealer, title, registration, tax, temporary-registration, and related motor-vehicle services are performed by or through ACar NJ LLC, a licensed New Jersey used motor vehicle dealer. ACar's exact role in any vehicle transaction depends on the signed transaction documents for that vehicle.

1. Scope

ACar uses Stripe Identity to verify identities for account, listing, appointment, purchase, payout, title, registration, fraud-prevention, safety, and legal-compliance purposes. This notice applies before ACar starts an identity-verification flow that may involve a government ID, live selfie, facial comparison, liveness check, or biometric identifier.

2. What May Be Collected

Stripe Identity may collect images of your government-issued ID, a live selfie, device and session data, and verification outputs. Stripe may use facial recognition or liveness technology to compare your selfie with your ID image and may create or use a facial geometry template or similar biometric identifier for that comparison.

3. Purpose

ACar uses biometric information and identity-verification results only for identity verification, fraud prevention, transaction safety, payment/payout and title/registration eligibility, account support, dispute handling, and legal compliance. ACar does not sell biometric information and does not use it for advertising or marketing.

4. Stripe Identity

Stripe processes identity-verification data under Stripe's Privacy Policy, Stripe Identity terms, Stripe consent screens, and applicable documentation. Stripe may process submitted data for Stripe Identity, fraud, security, legal compliance, service operation, and other purposes authorized by you or permitted by Stripe's terms.

Stripe's public help materials state that if you gave consent only for Stripe to verify your identity and for fraud and security purposes, the biometric identifiers used to make the initial verification are fully removed from Stripe systems within one year.

5. What ACar Stores

ACar does not store the underlying facial geometry template. ACar does store a copy of the images captured during verification — the front and back of your identification document and the selfie taken for comparison — because ACar NJ LLC is a licensed New Jersey motor vehicle dealer and must keep records identifying the parties to each vehicle transaction. ACar may also store verification status, Stripe session identifiers, timestamps, extracted identity fields where returned by Stripe, consent records, transaction eligibility records, and records needed for fraud prevention, support, dealer, title, registration, tax, payment, dispute, legal, and audit purposes.

6. Retention and Deletion

ACar's biometric retention and destruction schedule is available at /legal/biometric-retention. Stripe controls storage and deletion of biometric identifiers created or stored by Stripe Identity. You may need to contact both ACar and Stripe for deletion or withdrawal requests.

7. Consent and Refusal

By continuing to a Stripe Identity verification session, you consent to ACar and Stripe collecting, receiving, possessing, storing, using, disclosing, processing, and destroying biometric identifiers and biometric information for the purposes described in this notice. If you decline, ACar may be unable to verify your identity electronically and may be unable to provide services that require identity verification.
